For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 Corinthians 5:1 (KJV)
That scripture, 2 Cor 5:1, is vitally important, especially in today’s times, as we look around at the world and its chaotic climate. To realize that our “earthly home” is not permanent, and that our rewards will instead be an “Eternal home” with the Father in Heaven, should bring comfort, confidence, and an immense sigh of relief to all those of faith.
Jesus assures us in John 14:2 that “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” is a promise that gives us unwavering hope and assured that we will be with Him. He continues to solidify that promise in the next verse John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Wow! Absorb that for just a brief moment. Then think about for another moment if you will…He is telling us that He is in His Father’s house, and there He is preparing a place for us. For us! Are you jumping for joy yet?
John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father but through me.” And so He will…and so He is…and so He does.
My seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years on earth, are all going to be accounted for. Whatever actions I do, or do not do. Whatever I say, or didn’t say, are all accounted for, and will follow me to the hereafter. As it will all of us.
Are we prepared? Have we done all we can according to His will and purpose in our lives? Do we hear His voice, and follow Him unconditionally, and acknowledge Him in all we do?
The LORD’s promises are a balm of palpable assurance to those who believe. The scriptures bring a self-awareness to our world as it exists today. What I mean is, when havoc and darkness seem to engulf us on every angle, or our brains are riddled with thoughts with doom and gloom, we should always think of the promises in the Bible. We should seek His face and embrace His love, and walk in the light, while standing on the Rock. Things have a way of “falling away” from us when we pull into His voice and meditate on His Word and promises.
Are you troubled by the world today? Do you feel unsettled? His promises are waiting for those who believe. He is the way, the only way. He is the truth, and truth is medicine to our souls. And He is the LIFE that we can LIVE when we truly accept Him and Know Him fully and completely, while surrendering to His love.
“Father, thank You for Your unwavering promises, and for the beautiful assurance of knowing you are preparing a place for me, this temporary home of mine is fine for the moment, but I know I will be with You one day in my permanent home for all Eternity, in Jesus’ name, thank You, Amen.”
