While discussing the Bible with a dear Christian friend, the ability to understand God and His word came up. We were discussing all the different versions of the Bible and how so many take away and add to His word. God distinctly warns against that in various books, one of which is proverbs: “Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:6 KJV).
When one follows His word, and yields to the obedience of the word, He will be blessed, and rewarded. But, clearly the Lord, will do more than admonish for playing around with His word, as it so clearly states in revelation: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:19 KJV).
The problem is…so many versions are out there, and a good majority of people will reach for these “tampered with” versions, not knowing any better. “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” (Deuteronomy 4:2 KJV)
I have been to many different churches in my years as a Christian, whether be it through visiting, attending a wedding, or due to a move, through an invitation to attend, most especially, when I am led by the Spirit to move on elsewhere.
Now, in all of these places, obviously, with different Leaders, Pastors, Rabbis, Reverends, so on and so forth, there have been different versions of the Bible in place. In one such place I had asked the Reverend why a particular version was used, and his reply was one I had expected, yet still took me off guard, “because it’s easier for people to understand.” Huh? No disrespect Reverend, but…how about God’s word? The changing in meaning from the translation? And, how about the wisdom of the Lord to guide and open up the meaning of the scriptures, is that not an important piece of the equation?
I know the Reverend has a heart for God, and I am not judging him or any of the others who do not use the KJV…but it bothers me when the word is tampered with during translations.
Now back to my dear Christian friend, and our discussion. Her mother, who has since departed, loved the Lord, her children, her husband, and reading the Bible. She had a fifth grade education, was a simple lady in all facets of her life, but was a scholar in the word. She read the KJV only, and through her faith, tenacity, and the Holy Spirit providing wisdom, she understoond the KJV as well as any Bible scholar, if not more! If this little simple lady, with a heart for God, and a fifth grade education could read the KJV, anyone can.
Why so admanat about the word? Because the one and only God sent His book for our purposes…it’s His love letter to His children, us. It is from God, that it was written, through His vessels/prophets/Apostles/Disciples, etc., etc., it was, and is, the divine word of GOD. And, that stands for TRUTH. A lot of truth, and love. “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.” (Psalm 119:160 KJV)
The word is our defense, it is our shield, our fortress and our weapons against the enemy. The word is truth, the word is an inlet pouring out sincerity, the word is our salvation and protection. It should be in our heart and be incorporated into our vision for current times and future “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11 KJV)
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Proverbs 30:5-6 KJV).
So, to sum up…thank You Lord for providing the insight into Your astounding, and powerful word, for opening eyes, and opening ears to Your intimate words, and allowing us to glimpse Your character, and Your traits. For being there for every single one of us, for listening, for Your grace, Your blessings, and Your encouragement–And, Your arms that encircle us, each and everyday.
Thank You for Your truth and love Father~

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV)
Read your post today……
Thank you so much for sharing about my Mother,
It caught me by surprise.
I missed Her – since she passses 2011.
Yes My mother was devoted to Our LORD,
Daily she faithfully picked up her guitar and sang to God.
Played her best…..I know God was please!
I bought her a KJV Bible…..
She wanted The most accurate version.
What Great Faith My Mother had in God…..
She just knew He would help her by His Holy Spirit,
To understand the KJV version.
I even gave her another Bible with an easier version,
And she said, I did not sense God while reading it.
So she went back into the KJV version…..
I thank God for being so faithful to my mom,
Opening up His word in simple way for her.
Knowing her level of education.
I also remember how she used to call me….
Asking how to spell a word, when she would write a letter.
My Mom was raised in Northern Maine,
Right next to the border of Canada.
My parents went to an old school house,
Just like you would see on the TV show…..
Little House on the Prairie.
My folks had very little education…5th or 6th grade,
Way back in the 1940’s time. They lived on a farm…..
Potatoes, and other vegetables.
My Dad would work with his father,
Working with Logs and driving a log truck etc etc.
God Keeps all His Promises to His Children.
His Goodness is so amazing~!
Love in Jesus Christ,

Jeremiah 31:33-34(KJV)
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with
The house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD,
I will put my law in their inward parts,
And write it in their hearts; and will be their God,
And they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man
His neighbour, and every man his brother, Saying,
Know the LORD: For they shall all know me,
From the least of them unto The greatest of them,
Saith the LORD: For I will forgive their iniquity,
And I will remember their sin no more.

Whom the Father will send in my name,
He shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance,
Whatsoever I have said unto you.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 16:13-15 (KJV)

He will guide you into all truth: For he shall not speak of himself;
But whatsoever he shall hear, That shall he speak:
And he will shew you things to come.

And shall shew it unto you.

Therefore said I, that he shall take of mine,

Dee, Thanks for your comments, your responses always bring meaning to those reading it, and your scriptures open up avenues to those who stand in faith. Your mom was a lovely lady, and I’m sure she’s smiling daily with the Lord, as they watch over you with proud eyes. Thanks for being true to the Lord, my friend in Christ. Blessings~
Yes! That is so true, my friend reads the NIV version, and the MSG and I’ve been trying to tell her for years to research, and to see that the KJV is the closest version to the original Hebrew/Greek/Chaldean manuscripts. The NIV version has one part in Ezekiel saying, in 20:13 I believe Changing SOULS into BIRDS. That is so far away from the original transcipts!! See below for the difference, and how it can change a whole meaning. For example, about the “fly away Doctrine theory” that was started by a very sick lady who had a vision, and preachers ran away with it!
KJV: Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
NIV: “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds.”
See the difference in just ONE scripture? It can truly hurt many who don’t understand. So, this post is really important, and I hope many will look at the difference with other versions of the Bible, and start researching, and looking into their concordance, and asking questions. Some preachers, don’t even know the truth themselves! Jesus, warned against this too! “Beware of false teachers…”
God Bless All, and may the Lord show those who read this insightful post, the truth, and lead them all into glory. Amen!
Thank you so much for enjoying this post, and for your detailed response/comment. I am so happy to hear that you read KJV, and I am sure the LORD is too! Good example with scripture from Ezekiel, the passage is actually, 13:20. But, that’s okay, I am dyslexic, so I am always reversing numbers and letters all the time…I just wanted to clarify for others so they can check out your great example in which you posted. Thanks again!
Peace & Blessings in Christ~
