And He saith unto them, “Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. (Matthew 8:26)
In New England there are many snow storms, or Nor’easters as they prefer to call them. So, we are not surprised to feel the wrath of winds, ice, and see mountains of snow piled high as our front door. Having said that, this past week we had yet another storm. It started out slow, but continued to drop precipitation at a steady rate. Within a relatively short period of time it changed over to heavy rapid falling snow.
Upon awakening I glanced out into our backyard and didn’t like the sight staring back at me. The huge fir trees were packed with the “heavy wet snow” and were leaning forward in a menacning way. I thought, “Dear Lord, please protect us from these trees, and protect all within these walls from any harm, in Jesus name, amen.” After that brief prayer, I turned and proceeded into our kitchen. I barely had time to pour water into the coffee maker, when we felt the entire house violently shake in conjunction with a deafening, and frightening crash! My husband, mother and I said in unison, “What the heck was that?”
We ran to look outside, when there it was. The menacing tree that was looking at me moments earlier was splayed across our screened in porch, right outside our bedroom door in a suffocating fashion. Its huge branches poking through the screen, the top of it hovering over our skylight, stretching from one end of the roof to the other. This huge, magnificent looking tree, that stood over 35 feet high toppled unto our house. We stared for a moment, and after I knew that everyone was okay…including my elderly mom, and my little pup, we all said, “Thank you Lord, thank you Jesus! Praise God.”
Within three hours a crew came to clear the tree away. Except for a little piece of the gutter, and three ripped screens, there was no damage! The man who cleared it away was shocked, he said, “I’ve never seen anything like this, this huge tree barely made an impact on your property. This is really something, I can’t believe this!!” To which I replied, “God protected us, only moments after I said a prayer for Him to do so. So, believe it. He did it, His capable hands, and His loving heart responded to my prayer.”
So, thank you Lord, You are my amazing Abba Father, You are the refuge and the rock of my being. Your wings spread high overhead, and cover me with Your protection and love. Your warmth radiates as Your Spirit bathes me in Your light. You hear Your children, and You protect them always. I love You…thank You, my Lord of Lord and King of Kings.”
God is around…He is with us always. He hears us, He sees us, He is with us. Our comforter, our provider, our everything. Ask, seek, knock…and then watch how God works. Don’t take my word for it, take HIS~
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. ( Matthew 7:7 )
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:24 )
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:20)
