DEAR GOD: Your Name Above All~

Jesus: The Name Above All Names - Faithlife Sermons

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11

The Name Above All Names: A Reflection on Philippians 2:9-11

In the bustling tapestry of human existence, there exists a name that transcends time, culture, and circumstance—a name that echoes through the corridors of Eternity.

That name is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the embodiment of love, grace, and redemption. In the epistle to the Philippians, we encounter a profound joyous truth and declaration:

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” –
Philippians 2:9-11, (KJV)
.

Let’s see if we can uncover more understanding within the depths of this sacred truth, drawing out its moral implications, meditative questions, and the overwhelming love it reveals.

The Moral Landscape:

The name of Jesus stands as a Beacon of morality— a magnificent Light and compass guiding our choices, actions, and interactions. As Christians, we bear His name, and with it comes a responsibility to reflect His character. Our morality is not a rigid code but a living expression of love, compassion, and integrity. When faced with ethical dilemmas, we ask ourselves: “What would Jesus do?” His name compels us toward selflessness, forgiveness, and unwavering faith.

The Love of God Embodied:

In the name of Jesus, we encounter the very heartbeat of God’s love. It is a love that stooped low, leaving Heavenly realms to walk dusty roads, touch lepers, heal the lame, make the blind see, and dine with sinners.

It is a love that stretched wide on a rugged cross, bearing our sins, wounds, and brokenness. When we speak His name, we invoke the essence of sacrificial love—the love that transforms lives, heals hearts, and binds us together as a global family.

Takeaway Thoughts:

  1. Identity and Purpose: Our identity finds its truest expression in the name of Jesus. We are not mere mortals; we are children of the King of kings and the most High Royal God. Our purpose extends beyond earthly pursuits—to glorify Him and love one another.
  2. Humility and Exaltation: Jesus, though exalted, embraced humility. His name reminds us that true greatness lies in servanthood. How can we humbly lift others up today?
  3. Unity in Diversity: Every knee bows, every tongue confesses. In this universal acknowledgment, we find unity. Despite our differences, we share a common Savior. How can we bridge divides and celebrate our shared faith?

Meditative Reflections:

  1. What does the name of Jesus mean to you personally?
  2. How can you live out the morality embedded in His name?
  3. Consider moments when you’ve experienced the love of God through Jesus.

Closing Prayer:

“Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of the name above all names—Jesus. May His love flow through us, shaping our character, guiding our choices, and uniting us with fellow believers worldwide. As we bow before Him, may our lives echo His grace. In His precious name, we pray. Amen.”

May the name of Jesus be forever etched upon our hearts, leading us toward love, morality, and unity…

DEAR GOD: I’M LISTENING~

How to hear God’s voice……… - Shash Grewal

John 10:27-28 (KJV)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Do you hear His voice?  When you are alone, or in the middle of a valley, do you hear His loving voice? Do you recognize Him? And if so, do you follow Him?

Jesus is giving us a directive in this verse, He is stating with certainty that those who hear Him, are His sheep. Those who follow Him, shall have eternal life, and they shall never perish. He promises that nothing can pluck us away from Him or His hands.

That statement from Jesus our LORD and Savior brings an emergence of comfort to those who believe and follow Him. Joy fills the souls of those who know the truth and it has set them free. Free from the crippling effects of troublesome emotions such as anxiety, fear, worry…when we have God in our corner, we are under the “Helmet of protection” from Christ and the Almighty Father.”

There are certain advantages to being a faithful follower, such as living a life filled with “blessings” and love from above. One that is according to God’s will and purpose for our lives, and His plan is always the best one for us. Even when we can’t see the immediate results. The long-term plan of the LORD is always the best plan.

Do you hear His voice?

Listen, He’s calling…

“Father, thank You for calling me and for providing me with Your love and provisions that are never ending, may I do all according to Your plan, today, tomorrow and always, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
