One of the cornerstone verses that speaks to the return of Christ is found in
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:  “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”

Reflections on God’s Light and Love

The promise of the Lord’s coming is a testament to God’s unwavering light and love. John 8:12 tells us: > “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.'”

God’s light guides us through the darkest of times, offering hope and direction. His love is the foundation of our faith, as shown in Romans 5:8:  “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

To walk in honor of the LORD displaying behavior befitting of a Christian, living by example shining His light through our inner spirit. Providing a demeanor that is soft, approachable and filled with wisdom from knowing the Word. And being a fountain of information about the Word and His Love for all of us.

Christian Views of Today

Today’s Christians face unique challenges and opportunities in living out their faith. The call to be watchful and prepared is as relevant now as it was in the early church. In a world filled with distractions, maintaining a focus on Christ’s return helps believers prioritize their faith and live with eternal perspectives. As We delve into the Word and meditate and memorize scripture- an amazing transformation comes into play, we grow deeper, more entrenched in the Word – and able to discern readily what is right and what is wrong. We are able to tell who the “false preachers” are and able to detect “what is evil” in the world. Reading the Word, praying, fasting and holding on to our faith during both good times and bad – is a large part of what being a Christian is all about. And doing the work of the Father, in the capacity in which He has “called us” is a huge part of His plan. 

Prayer

“LORD- our Heavenly Father, we thank You for the promise of Your Son’s return. As we await His coming, fill our hearts with Your light and love. Help us to live lives that reflect Your holiness and compassion. Strengthen us to share Your truth and serve those around us. May we always be vigilant and faithful, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.”
