DEAR GOD: Your Will & Obedience For My Life~

Seeking Him: Obeying God

The Blessings of Obedience:  Faith and Divine Favor

The Story of Hannah and Samuel

In a small village nestled among rolling hills, there lived a woman named Hannah. She was known for her unwavering faith and deep devotion to God. Despite her piety, Hannah faced a profound sorrow—she was childless. In her culture, this was a source of great shame and personal anguish.

Every year, Hannah and her husband, Elkanah, traveled to Shiloh to worship and offer sacrifices to the Lord. During one such visit, Hannah, overwhelmed by her grief, went to the temple and poured out her heart to God. She prayed fervently, promising that if God granted her a son, she would dedicate him to the Lord’s service for all his days.

Moved by her sincerity, the priest Eli assured her that God had heard her prayer. True to His word, God blessed Hannah with a son, whom she named Samuel, meaning “heard by God.” Hannah kept her promise and, once Samuel was weaned, she brought him to the temple to serve under Eli.

Samuel grew up in the temple, learning the ways of the Lord. His obedience and dedication were evident, and God blessed him abundantly. Samuel became a great prophet, guiding the people of Israel with wisdom and integrity. His life was a testament to the blessings that come from following and obeying God fully.

 The Blessings of Obedience

The story of Hannah and Samuel is a powerful illustration of the blessings that flow from obedience to God. Throughout the Bible, we see numerous examples of individuals who experienced God’s favor and blessings because they chose to follow Him wholeheartedly.

1. The Promise of Blessings

In Deuteronomy 28:1-2, God promises blessings for obedience: “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.”

This passage highlights that God’s blessings are not random but are a direct result of our obedience. When we align our lives with His will, we open ourselves to His favor and protection.

2. The Example of Abraham

Abraham’s life is another profound example. In Genesis 22, God tested Abraham’s faith by asking him to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac. Abraham’s willingness to obey, even in such a difficult command, demonstrated his deep trust in God. As a result, God provided a ram as a substitute for Isaac and blessed Abraham, promising that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky (Genesis 22:17-18).

3. The Rewards of Obedience

Obedience to God brings both spiritual and material blessings. Proverbs 3:5-6 advises, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” When we trust and obey God, He guides us, providing clarity and direction in our lives.

4. The Peace of Obedience

Obedience also brings peace. Isaiah 26:3 states, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” When we follow God’s commands, we experience a deep sense of peace, knowing that we are walking in His will.

Reflective Questions

  1. How can I demonstrate my obedience to God in my daily life?
  2. What areas of my life do I need to surrender to God’s will?
  3. How have I experienced God’s blessings as a result of my obedience?

Moral Thoughts

  • Trust and Obey: Trusting God means believing that His plans are better than ours. Obedience is an act of faith, showing that we trust His wisdom and love.
  • Faith in Action: Obedience is faith in action. It is not enough to believe in God; we must also follow His commands and live according to His word.
  • Blessings Through Obedience: God’s blessings are often tied to our obedience. When we follow His commands, we position ourselves to receive His favor.

Meditative Takeaways

  • Align Your Heart with God’s Will: Seek to understand and follow God’s commands. Let your actions reflect your faith and trust in Him.
  • Embrace the Journey of Obedience: Obedience is a journey, not a destination. Continuously seek to grow in your faith and understanding of God’s will.
  • Experience God’s Peace: Trust that obedience to God will bring peace and blessings into your life. Rest in the assurance that He is guiding your steps.

Unified Prayer

Dear LORD -Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your endless love and mercy. We thank You for the blessings that come from following and obeying You. Help us to trust in Your wisdom and guidance, even when the path is difficult. Lord, we ask for the strength to obey Your commands and to live according to Your will. Teach us to surrender our desires and plans to You, knowing that Your plans are far greater than ours. Fill our hearts with peace as we walk in obedience to Your word.

We pray for the courage to follow You wholeheartedly, just as Hannah dedicated Samuel to Your service and Abraham trusted You with his most precious gift. May our lives be a testament to Your faithfulness and the blessings that come from living in obedience to You.

Guide us, Lord, in our journey of faith. Help us to grow in our understanding of Your righteous judgments and to praise You with upright hearts. May we experience the fullness of Your blessings as we walk in Your ways.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

Seeking Him: Obeying God

DEAR GOD: I Love To Dwell In Your Place My LORD~

I Will Dwell In The House Of The Lord Forever, Beginning Now

“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!” – Psalm 84:1

The opening verse of Psalm 84 invites us into a sacred space—a place where our souls find solace, our hearts resonate with joy, and our spirits commune with the living God. As we delve into this beautiful psalm, let us explore its rich layers, drawing inspiration for our Christian journey today.

Moral Thoughts:

  1. Longing for God’s Presence: The psalmist’s soul longs for the courts of the Lord. This longing reflects our innate desire for communion with God. In our busy lives, do we carve out moments to seek His presence? How can we cultivate a deeper hunger for God?
  2. The Beauty of Holiness: The psalmist describes God’s dwelling place as “lovely.” It’s not merely a physical structure but a realm of holiness. How can we honor the sacredness of our own hearts, recognizing that we are vessels for God’s presence?
  3. Blessed Are Those Who Dwell: The psalmist declares blessings upon those who dwell in God’s house. What does it mean to dwell in His presence daily? How can we create spiritual habits that draw us closer to Him?

Christian Living Today:

  1. Our Spiritual Home: Just as the psalmist yearned for the temple, we have a spiritual home—the body of Christ. Our churches, small groups, and fellowship gatherings become dwelling places where we encounter God. How can we actively engage in our spiritual communities?
  2. Joyful Worship: Our hearts and flesh sing for joy when we worship the living God. Worship isn’t confined to Sunday mornings; it’s a lifestyle. How can we infuse our daily routines with worship, expressing gratitude and awe?
  3. The Journey Matters: The psalmist speaks of the pilgrimage to Zion. Our faith journey is also a pilgrimage—a process of growth, valleys, and mountaintops. How do we navigate life’s journey with faith, knowing that God is our constant companion?

Reflective Questions:

  1. What does God’s dwelling place mean to you personally? How do you experience His presence?
  2. Are there areas in your life where you long for God more intensely? How can you invite Him into those spaces?
  3. How can you make your home, workplace, and relationships places where God’s presence is felt?

Meditative Exercises:

  1. Silent Prayer: Find a quiet spot and meditate on Psalm 84:1. Allow the words to sink in, inviting God’s Divine Presence.
  2. Nature Walk: Take a walk outdoors, appreciating the beauty of creation. Reflect on how God’s dwelling place extends beyond walls.
  3. Journaling: Write down your longings, joys, and reflections. Pour out your heart to the Lord.

Applying Our Love Today:

  1. Love God Wholeheartedly: Let our love for God permeate every aspect of our lives. Whether at work, with family, or in our hobbies, may our actions reflect our love for Him.
  2. Love Others: As we dwell in God’s love, let’s extend it to others. Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving. Love is our greatest witness.

 Unity Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of Your dwelling place—the courts of the Lord. Fill our hearts with longing for You. May our lives be a fragrant offering, a temple where Your Spirit resides. Teach us to love You wholeheartedly and to love our neighbors as ourselves. As we journey toward Zion, guide our steps, and may our worship be a symphony of joy. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

DEAR GOD: Your Divine Glory Be Praised~

Glory to God in the highest | Christian quotes, Inspirational bible ...

The Resonance of Divine Glory

Psalm 29:2 beckons us to “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.” This verse is a clarion call to recognize the inherent majesty of the Divine, a summons to the soul to rise above the mundane and enter the realm of sacred adoration.

The Essence of Worship

At its core, worship is an act of love, a profound expression of reverence for the Creator. It is not merely a ritualistic practice but a heartfelt acknowledgment of God’s omnipotence and benevolence. The “splendor of holiness” mentioned in Psalm 29:2 is a testament to the pure, untainted essence of divine worship, which is both a privilege and a duty for every believer.

Love Embodied in Praise

To worship in love is to see beyond the veil of the temporal, to touch the eternal. It is to offer praise that is as much an outpouring of the spirit as it is a tribute to God’s glory. The Psalmist understands this intertwining of love and worship, urging us to present ourselves in holiness as we adore the Lord.

Supporting Verses

The Bible is replete with verses that echo the sentiment of Psalm 29:2. Psalm 150:6 exhorts, “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.” This universal call to worship emphasizes that all of creation is meant to participate in the exaltation of God.

In 1 Chronicles 16:34, we are reminded of the enduring love of God: “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” This enduring love is the foundation upon which our worship is built, a love that is reciprocated through our praises.

John 4:24 reveals the nature of true worship: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” Worship, therefore, is not confined to physical spaces or rituals; it is a spiritual journey anchored in authenticity and sincerity.

The act of worship is transformative. It is an encounter with the Divine that leaves us changed, more aligned with God’s will, and more reflective of His holiness. As we ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name, we are, in turn, enveloped in His grace, mercy, and love. When we ascribe to His ways, His Word, and listen to the defining voice of the LORD, we are thereby able to embrace life in a way that we otherwise would not, had we been anything other than a follower of the LORD. With our Almighty Father by our side, and the Spirit dwelling within we are confident and able to accomplish all that we endeavor, and we do so – only through Christ our LORD!

Are You listening to His voice? Do you worship Him in splendor? Do you recognize His profound Presence and Majestic Omnipotence?

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You in humble adoration, recognizing Your infinite glory and grace. May worship be a sweet, fragrant offering that honors Your holy name. Teach me and Your children to worship You in spirit and truth, to love You with all every aspect of being and with all our hearts, and to reflect Your holiness in our lives. Amen.”
