(Romans 12:10 KJV) “ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another…”
While watching a baseball game a player was deliberately hit with a fast ball. I closed my eyes and prayed the man was okay. Thank God he was, but to my utter dismay I noticed the crowd standing and cheering loudly that this individual was “hit.” They stood–children included–clapping joyously while hurling expletives at the individual. The sounds of the racous crowd was deafening. Obviously having watched this sport my whole life, there’s a natural inclination to “cheer on your team.” When it’s done in a playful and good natured way, it’s all part of the game. But, lately I’ve noticed a disturbing pattern emerging more frequently than not. The fans have become seemingly desensitized in their views while attending a game. It’s evident in their approach and their chants. Perhaps the most disturbing is that they’re teaching their children to want and delight in “this sickening display.” These individuals sat in judgement of a player who “supposedly” took some kind of performance enhancing drug. It wasn’t proven yet, and he is playing according to the rules of the game and arbritration. Yet, these people sat in judgment…screaming mean vindictive words, while their children joined in! But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. (Romans 14:10 KJV)
The world today is growing increasingly difficult to recognize. For an example, I was waiting to check out my groceries online behind two women who had many horrific things to say about everyone and anything. There wasn’t one positive report between the two. Things like, “I wanted my house to look better than hers, so I outbidded her for the items.” The other friends went on to say, “I lied to her and told her there were no homes coming up for sale. Who wants her near me? And, imagine the house is better than mine, that’s all I need.” This went on for about ten minutes. I wanted to jump lines due to the negative and toxic talk that was going on. They were shutting out people due to their own selfish needs and wants. They were sitting in judgment of people whom I didn’t know, but hurt my heart to hear it. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. (Romans 14:13 KJV)
We are supposed to love others and honor others as God says in His word. If someone wants a house in your neighborhood and it’s “better than yours” –God bless them. Tell them about it. If someone is bidding for an “item you want” –God bless them, let them have it. Or better still, if you’re able…”buy it for them.” Why all the discourse? Why the hatred? Why the negative talk? We are what we sow, and we will reap bitterness and depths of despair as we spread seeds of discourse. When you sow seeds that produce righteous fruit, we will reap the rewards from our Father in abundance. Our rewards will be met, if not here…then most assuredly in heaven. It’s so much better to encourage and help one another. Even our brain patterns in an EEG are diffferent when we help and give of ourselves. It solidifies and amplifies your whole being. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. (Romans 14:19 KJV)
Life is fleeting here on earth and we are brought here for a purpose. All of us are created by God’s loving and worthy holy hands. We have a reason for being here. Do you honestly believe it is to “cast dispersions on one another?” Do you believe it’s to downplay and outscheme one another?” Hardly. That would cancel out the very reason Jesus came to earth. He wanted to save us from “ourselves” and our sins. He came looking for us, to help us, to show us what we need to do for our eternal salvation. Jesus is love. He is not a respector of persons and loves us all equally. Thank you Lord!! The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. (Psalms 37:23 KJV)
When seeds of joy are spread and His word is spread through actions of love and acceptance and honoring of each other–great things take place. You feel better physically as you nuture your spirit resulting in peace, contentment, and an overwhelming feeling of love. Jesus is love, and when we love we LOVE HIM. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 KJV)
Don’t perpetruate “discourse and anger” –embrace love and acceptance and watch your life turn around for the better. And, most especially don’t forget that God loves us! Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind…(Matthew 22:37 KJV)
Romans 12:10-21 (KJV)
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
