Dear God: I Embrace Your Promises~

But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil." Proverbs 1:33 NKJV

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:29-31 NKJV

Whatever happens in our life is essentially happening in our “eternity.”  Think about that for a moment. The consequences of how we live and what we believe will ultimately be the determining factor in our “eternity.”

I heard a disturbing statistic this morning that I wish to share with my fellow Christians.  A news station proclaimed in a perfunctory tone that 89% of the population do not believe in God.  And, comprised of that 89% were individuals under thirty years old.  I was floored!

I ‘m aware that behavior has been deteriorating and progressing rapidly to a modern day Babylon before our very eyes.  However, I didn’t realize the depths of debauchery had penetrated society in such a malevolent wave. The uproarious and hideous stain of sin that is being exemplified through media, computers and everything in between.  It was staggering to hear this figure, although it may be somewhat skewed…the impact is jarring nonetheless.

The promises of GOD holds true today.  It doesn’t matter that modern technology is rampant within our veins.  The Bible is God’s words, and His word is everlasting.  So, it doesn’t matter if we lived in the fifties, sixities or right now- His word is the same.  Laws are to protect us. God made the laws in His commandments.  Oh – really?  Do you really want to go there?  YES!

Think about it.  Stealing – it’s a crime.  “thou shall not steal.”  Sound familiar?

Murdering someone is a crime “thou shall not kill.”   Hmmm? Who said that?

Saying vicious things about someone. “thou shall not bear false witness against someone.” See?

We  know the rest of the commandments.
And, the same goes for honoring your mother and father…God promises a long life to those who do.  He’s not happy with those who do not honor their parents. Think about that the next time you treat your parent with careless disregard.

The point is – the book is a relevant guide to being prosperous and happy in our lives.  Our life can be ideal and we could be blessed by God if we adhere to His words.  It’s a format for our course in this world. This current world in which depravity and reality shows have reached an all time high.  This current world in which the sentisity values have lessened, almost diminishing while viewing Youtube videos of senseless beatings of homeless people, or a gang of students beating up ONE student. Violence begets violence.  It’s shockingly revolting.

And, sexual immorality has now become a common practice whereas saving “oneself” for marriage has become a sign of abnormality, and a stigma.  The common thing is to live with each other, give it a test drive before marrying…and laughter when someone sticks to their values and beliefs is a sure thing.

God has to be very sad and very disappointed at the behavior of His children. He warns us over and over in His book, giving guidance, assurance of His promises and stipulations, and outlines the consequences of all aspects pertaining to our lives. We have a purpose here on earth. We are here for a reason.

It’s sad when things that are happening in this world right now, the unrest, the famine, the abuse that ravages so many is painfully abundant in its entirety…yet takes a back seat to most of the ME generation of oblivion.  The ME generation of making noise without making sense.

Sad, so sad.  I sometimes wonder if the rain falling from heaven is the Lord’s tears crashing down upon His misguided children.  It’s never too late to recognize our Soveriegn and loving God.  It’s never too late while we’re here to acknowledge His words, and walk the righteous path of acceptance in His eyes. It’s never too late to love Him and take the time to get to know Him before He meets you and says, “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:23 NKJV

Do you care what man thinks?  Or do you care what God thinks?  The choice is yours…

“The poor and needy seek water, but there is none,
Their tongues fail for thirst.
I, the Lord, will hear them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers in desolate heights,
And fountains in the midst of the valleys;
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
And the dry land springs of water.
19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree,
The myrtle and the oil tree;
I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine
And the box tree together,
20 That they may see and know,
And consider and understand together,
That the hand of the Lord has done this,
And the Holy One of Israel has created it.
Isaiah 41:17-20 NKJV

“For My people are foolish,
They have not known Me.
They are silly children,
And they have no understanding.
They are wise to do evil,
But to do good they have no knowledge.”
Jeremiah 4:22 NKJV

 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Dear God: Living in the Wisdom and Peace Of Your Love~

O LORD, come and rule your people; lead your flock in green pastures. Help them to live in peace and prosperity ...Micah 7:14 NKJV

Speaking on the phone with various individuals over this past week has been emotionally draining, to a certain extent.  However, I don’t mean to imply in any way that I am not up to the job, or not appreciative that the Lord is using me as His vessel to “help” these individuals.  It just can be taxing when trying to be the encourager and strong listener while providing insight and wisdom at once.  Without walking in the pastures of peace in God’s word, and help…it could have been overwhelming.  I said, could have been.  The reason why is wasn’t is one word…GOD.

This is where God comes in, as HE always does. His word, His love, His shield and His presence is what allows me to operate under adverse circumstances in a smooth peaceful way.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me…Philippians 4:13 NKJV

He is our ultimate provider, and makes provisions for all of our needs, should we accept His love and unmerited favor by acknowledging Him, through all things, and for all things in our lives.
He is the primary substance of which we predicate our entire premise in life…the overriding factor in all details, no matter how big or small.

There isn’t anything I cannot do with God on my side, nothing we cannot accomplish, or forge through with ease and good  conscience.  “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 NKJV

I find when I am coursing through a fast paced discussion that is hard pressed…and seemingly filled with venomous intent by the individual facing me – I  immediately find myself in “His pasture” feeding on His word in my mind and heart.  Which gets me to a level of peace and Spritiual essence, thereby changing how I perceive  the world.

Now on the other hand, His wisdom allows me to “help others” who come to me for info, guidance…recourse of actions they have taken, or should have taken.  He wills me to go forward through His unprecedented and Spiritual guidance.  I am much like a deer who is grazing in a field and exceedingly content, protected and walking in tranquil beauty of His works.  Now, if the deer should run across the highway, it would be out of the protection of that very field.  Devastating results can occur right?

Well, much is the way of our lives.  If we live within the confines of His word and His laws we are always protected in His field.  If we run rampant, and off course, much like the deer  who ran across the highway….our outcome also  could and will have devastating results.

I am pleased that the Lord uses me for His purpose, like helping my friends, being a counselor, and consultant for many.  He created us after all for His purposes, and His pleasure.  So, when He utilizes me…I am happy content, and need Him desperately like a deer pants for water.

So, Lord whatever the world throws my way–it’s such a comfort to know all I have to do is run to You in Your fields of comfort, joy, love and peace…

 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. Psalm 42:1 NKJV

You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for you have created all things, and for your pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11 KJV

 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42:11 NKJV

Dear God: Your Perfect Will Equals Perfect Timing~

And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 NKJV

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.  Romans 13:1 NKJV

My friend and I had a good laugh earlier.  I had called her to see how she was doing, and she was in the middle of eating.  So we laughed out of control.  Allow me to explain so you too will see the humor in this particular scenario.

No matter what the time is, morning, noon or night–I always seem to call  my friend when she is sitting down to eat!  Whether it is 6 A.M. – 2 P.M.- 10 P.M.  My timing is awful!  My timing is always off when it comes to  calling my friend.  Now that is when she is home.  Today, she is on her way to the hospital for her operation tomorrow, in the morning, (Please keep her in prayer…Dee ) so I called her up.  What happens?  She was in a diner taking a break from the four hour drive to the hospital (she lives in Maine in the middle of moose country – wilderness!) and eating her lunch.  Okay, so we laughed hysterically!  My goodness, can I ever get it right????

Well..that brings me to God and His perfect will, and His perfect will means perfection in all things.  And, timing is of course one of the attributes that our Sovereign God has.  His timing is perfect and NEVER off.  I am sure He smiled when I was calling my friend knowing full well that even on the road I was going to catch her eating!

Our Lord is so wise…from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”  Proverbs 2:10 NKJV

We begin to get the wisdom of the Lord as we get to know Him on a deeper level, and a deeper basis.  Meditating on God’s word will provide insight into things we never knew we could accomplish or understand.  But, studying scripture and embracing His truth, all things will open, and we will emerge fully equipped to handle the world and the evil in it.  His words will fortify us as we grasp the full meaning of what our purpose is here on earth.

We are soldiers for Christ, each one of us with different gifts, different roles.  Some are teachers, some are counselors, some are mentors, some are one-on-one personalities.  But, one thing is for certain, we are all soldiers in Christ.  We are in training for the big day of eternity, where our true lives will begin.

His promises are there for us should be choose to accept them and embrace His ways.  He is a loving, kind and Sovereign God.  A compassionate and forgiving God.  An amazing God.  He will never leave us, or forsake us.  Although many have turned their back on Him.  Some will never know Him. How that breaks my heart, I could only imagine what it does to His.

For the Lord will not forsake His people, for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.” 1 Samuel 12:22 NKJV

Prepare for the beginning of the end times as you look around and see the chaos in the world.  And, right here in the USA…the changing climate and tides of purging.  The Lord is doing a “shaking” of His people.  We need to be watchmen, choose wisely, serve Him fully and stay in His word.  He will take care of His children.  He wants us to repent, and follow Him faithfully.  He will take care of the rest.  All we need to do is believe and act accordingly.

Now, if only God would tell me when to call my friend…

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord…    Matthew 23:37-39 KJV

Dear God: Your Path is Golden~

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,And lean not on your own understanding;In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs3:5-6 NKJV

I watched a young woman rush past an elderly woman with a cane, nearly knocking her over in her haste.  As if that wasn’t enough, she didn’t bother to fulfill a simple gesture of courtesy…she didn’t hold the heavy bank door for the woman with the cane.  I was mortified at the crass indifference demonstrated by this young woman!    Luckily I was directly behind the older lady and promptly ran for the door, the older woman looked shocked.  Not by the first young woman’s behavior, but by mine.  Isn’t that amazing?   She was grateful and thanked me three times before walking through the doors.

This example is one of many scenarios saturating our society today.  Complete oblivion.  Now, I would like to give the young lady the benefit of the doubt.  Perhaps she had a horrible day?  Perhaps she had a bad week?  Maybe health issues of a family member worsened?  Maybe she received terrible news concerning her own health?  Or maybe, just maybe…she is just oblivious to those around her.

Looking at the simple scenario.  I thought of God and His Son, our amazing Savior- Jesus Christ.  Although we are living in the “modern day” world, and thousands of years have gone by since Christ walked among men and died for our sins…the Words of our Father are still the same.  Jesus Christ’ doctrine is still in place.  We, as Christians are supposed to be a mirror image of His character.  We are supposed to be walking and demonstrating unconditional love and understanding of our brothers and sisters.  Does ignoring a struggling old lady with a cane sound like behavior that Jesus would approve of?

This scenario is the tip of the iceberg of what is transpiring and unfolding before our eyes.   There seems to be a genuine lack of respect for the elderly.  The youth explosion is apparent. No matter where you look it’s all about youth.  And the generation of today, not ALL but a good majority of the ones I see, do not have the same fundamental values as say, the “baby boomers.”  It is different.

As a Christian, I try to emulate Christs’ attributes as much as I can.  No one is like Jesus…nor does anyone come close to the perfect one.  But His Holy Spirit lives within, and knowing the Father’s words are the essential “tools” we need to exist in the world.  God is an amazing God, and will do all He can to accommodate His children.  He is nearby at all times.  He hears our cries.  He knows our hearts.

Perhaps because my entire career consisted of helping the elderly in nursing homes, I may have a higher radar of what their specific needs are.  Or, I may be tuned into their plights because of my calling for this population from God.  But, it does make me upset to see them being overlooked, or ignored…there is no reason for it.

The paths we walk on are determined by our consistent and genuine devotion to God.  The walk with God is different for each person.  It is a personal thing our relationship with God.   Each one of us has a different connection to God. Some have a higher calling, some walk on a different road.  Some have a low-key relationship with God. Some are high-powered and overtly focused. However, no matter the difference in how we speak to God…one thing is apparent, we are all walking down a path that will determine our eternal walk with God.  His kingdom.

It’s our choice which path we walk down.  The path we should all be taking is the one that seeks  God’s face, and His righteous ways that lead to Eternity in His Kingdom.  It’s never too late to walk down the right road. Our actions, our beliefs and what we do while on earth will make up our righteous robes in heaven.

Our continuous devotion to God, and His Words, following His commandments are crucial to our faith.  So, might I suggest that we  cross the bridge of serenity which consists of His ways while here on earth? Our behavior should have the “light of the Lord” reflecting from within at all times. So hold the door for the person behind you, smile to someone who is going through a rough time, listen and hear what your brothers and sisters are saying…and, help someone who needs counsel, or help in the simplest task or the most difficult.  Or, just let someone you care about know they are loved.

   Why bother to do all of these things?  Because  Jesus would do all of this and more.  Because we love Jesus, and because the golden path of His kingdom is our ultimate destination.  Amen

Do not enter the path of the wicked,
And do not walk in the way of evil.
15 Avoid it, do not travel on it;
Turn away from it and pass on.
16 For they do not sleep unless they have done evil;
And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness,
And drink the wine of violence. But the path of the just is like the shining sun,That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is like darkness;
They do not know what makes them stumble.
Proverbs, 4:14-19 NKJV
